Our project for a new RCA proposes a spatial model that encourages creative collaboration across academic disciplines.

The project consists of three spatial archetypes: tables, shelves and ladders.

The table defines a clear space but does not have a boundary. It is a place of making and work but also of display and presentation.

Departmental boundaries are blurred through a system of large overlapping tables containing work spaces.

A spine accommodates shared resources in a shelf structure.

2nd Floor Plan with the spine linking the studio spaces on the tables.

Studios are filled with northern natural light and are reminiscent of industrial spaces often adapted for artistic production.
